Dirty Robots, named after a song off a Lemonheads album, began with Johnny Moskal, originally the Singer/Guitarist of DimStar and The Honeydews.
Johnny formed Dirty Robots in the summer of 2009 after the break-up of DimStar. Johnny always had a passion for vintage 50’s/60’s sound Rock & Roll and now was able to stretch his fingers and mind as he lead his new band, with several different line-ups changes over the early years the Robots began to tour the region relentlessly. .
After playing countless shows throughout the circuit the Philly based band caught a major break when they were asked to open for platinum recording artist Tantric in the winter of 2014. In 2016 the band achieved national fame when Johnny appeared on an episode of the court TV drama Hot Bench.
Success would then strike again in the summer of 2017 when the band was asked to open for Movie Star Corey Feldman & The Angels on their Angelic to the U.S. tour. It would be this tour that would prove to be most pivotal to the bands current line-up and sound. While on the tour in July of that summer Johnny met Singer/Guitarist Joe Rio and Drummer Tiff Delpopolo of the band Yes Way Ted, once Johnny heard this duo’s act he immediately asked them to join the Robots. Finally the band found the edge and sound they had been searching for, with this new line-up in tow the Robots began to work on writing material for their first album.
In the Spring of 2018 the band hit the legendary M Sound recording studio to begin work with veteran Producer Domenic Prinzivalli on what would become their debut album Rock & Roll Buzz Kill.
While recording their album the band was asked to tour and open a series of shows with Platinum recording artist Sponge, including their Rotting Pinata 25th anniversary tour.
Touring and the studio can take a toll on any band and the Dirty Robots are no exception to that rule, it wasn’t long till the band saw the departure of drummer Tiff Delpopolo. Through the highs and lows of this rollercoaster ride Johnny and Joe Rio became kindred spirits in the bands writing style and sound. Through hard work and pure determination they wrapped up the recording of Rock & Roll Buzz Kill in the Spring of 2020. Their debut album set to be released on Sweet Tone Records 12/09/20.
